What is TMJ?

Instances of severe jaw misalignment stem from Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, commonly referred to as TMJ syndrome. The temporomandibular joint, which connects your jaw to your skull, might become inflamed or misaligned and begin to cause you mild to severe pain. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including injury, teeth grinding, or just genetics. It can be exacerbated by activities such as nail biting, sleeping on your stomach, eating large-sized bites of food and excessive clenching or grinding of the teeth. If you have been feeling chronic discomfort in the jaw and broader facial area, please contact our neuromuscular dentistry experts in Anchorage today.
